Herning Sky is characterised by an uncompromising attitude towards design, quality, choice of materials and functionality. I-Wood was chosen as supplier of strip ceilings for the construction and has since delivered and installed over 1,500 m2 in the two towers. The task was solved using I-Wood Pro+ in fire-retardant MDF and felt, which was approved by the local fire authorities.

Better acoustics in concrete construction

In May 2019, the first residents moved into Herning Sky in Herning — an ambitious housing project with two 15-storey towers. Here, design, quality and functionality were considered from the very beginning, and acoustic ceilings became an important part of the solution in the exclusive apartments. The requirements from Bo Godt Midtjylland were clear: acoustics had to be right, fire safety requirements had to be met, and the solution also had to be practical to work with on a high-rise construction site.

The acoustic ceilings in Herning Sky contribute both to the aesthetic expression and to a better sound experience in a building where concrete can otherwise create acoustic challenges. I-Wood Denmark® supplied a total of 1,500 m² of ceiling panels for the project, and the experience from the first tower led even more buyers to choose the solution in the next. Easy handling and installation were also a key part of the process on site.

Documented fire safety

At Herning Sky, acoustic ceilings from I-Wood Denmark® have been chosen as a solution that combines aesthetics, acoustics and stringent fire safety requirements. In the exclusive apartments, Pro+ ceilings with I-Wood’s unique finger joints have been used, contributing to a refined look while meeting the building’s requirements for documented fire safety.

The positive response to the first towers has also made the choice easier for the next phases. That is why acoustic ceilings from I-Wood Denmark® will again be offered as an optional upgrade in the upcoming towers at Herning Sky. Interest has been clear, and specific requests from buyers have confirmed that the solution delivers real value in practice.
